UPS

After work I saw that I had a message on my phone from UPS, or someone with UPS. I listened to his message, which just was a request for me to return his call.  I drove home and called while I was in my driveway still sitting in the car. As I drove in I had noticed some tire marks on the edge of our lawn and some dirt on our driveway. I glanced up and saw a UPS slip taped to our door as I was calling.  Ryan came to the door and was listening and watching as I chatted with the guy on the phone.  The poor dude was so upset that he had driven on our grass and left such a mess.  It had been raining a lot over the previous 48 hours, so everything was muddy and wet.  It looked worse than it was.  He apologized profusely and said he would come and fix it. I told him it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about it.  He was really upset and continued to apologize and offered assistance in repairing the damage.  I reassured him that we've done it before as well, and it will be fine.  It's just grass and it will grow back.  In fact within 20 minutes we had another downpour and it washed the dirt away, so when Casey came home he didn't even notice.  Ryan said he was in the shower when the driver knocked, so he didn't talk with him, but he noticed he was at the end of our driveway pacing for 10-15 minutes, possibly waiting for someone to come home.

It really made me wonder if a lot of people call UPS and complain.  Poor guy.  I'm glad I could give him some relief from his very stressful morning he must have had, worrying about something that he thought would be way worse than it was🙃

ps - because his name was Josh(my late/youngest brother's name) I wanted to bake him some cookies with a glass of milk💗

Tooth Extraction

These last couple weeks have been quite painful.  I started feeling pain in one of my teeth and last minute got an appointment to have it checked out.  It turns out that it had an infection in it.  They put me on medication and said that I also had a crack in the tooth.  They said I could have a root canal to possibility save the tooth or pull it.  I opted to have it pulled, rather than take the chance of having to deal with any future problems.  So, after a week of being on medication and having the pain subside I went in to have the tooth pulled.  I spent another week trying to recover from the new pain.  I didn't ever have my wisdom teeth pulled, so it's a new pain for me.  I cannot imagine having all four taken out at once, because one was traumatic enough.  Good grief, maybe I'm a wimp, but there was a lot of pulling and tugging and also the tooth broke as they pulled it out so there was a drill involved as well.  I didn't opt to be put out(which the doctor suggested might have been the best).  I was only on mild(50%) gas, so basically aware and awake.  Casey had said I wouldn't even need the gas...it was NO big deal.  Well, I would've liked to have been 100% out😥

My appointment was at 3:45.  Casey took me, but he had a webinar at 6:00.  I thought for sure I would be in and out way before then, but I waited an hour before I finally went up and told them I needed to get in or I'd have to come back another day.  In the meantime Casey had called Ryan to come and take me home, so he could get back for his webinar.  I had to pick up medicine at the pharmacy with gauze stuck in my mouth.  I was thankful for a mask to cover that up while I went in to get my medications.

In a few months I'll go and have a bridge put in, but for now I'm going to be grateful to be pain-free. I'm finally starting to get back to sleeping through the night and comfortable and not having a constant ache in my mouth/face.

I had friends drop off some delicious soups and beautiful flowers.  That was a nice surprise in the middle of the tooth trauma.  Thanks for the 💓

Fires

We decided after Christmas we were going to try and have fires more regularly.  Casey collects scraps for fire starting, and we did good for the first few weeks, but then the rains came and we haven't been as consistent.  It's not really warm yet either, which is okay if the fire is hot enough.  It's been fun, and we've enjoyed our fire nights.

It's also that time of year when Casey likes to trim limbs and burn, so we've had yard work going on as well and pit fires, which are Casey's favorite days!

Even though the field is bare, there are still a few cotton plants left over from last season.  It makes me want spring and warmer weather to come quickly.  I miss the beauty of all of the colors!  I'm counting down....

Self-Portrait

We found several of Ryan's old art that we want to frame.  I told Ryan to pose for this one, and he decided he'd try and match his own self portrait he made back in the day😂💗

Kaitlyn painted a portrait for Casey this year for Christmas of his childhood farmhouse he grew up in.  It was such a cool gift.  The year before she painted a portrait
of our current homestead.

 We love our artists💕
