Back on Schedule

After receiving torrents of rain for an entire week and having several games cancelled, We were finally able to get out and watch a few games last week. This is a picture of Atlanta. They were hit the hardest with some pretty severe flooding. Luckily, we didn't have any local flooding.

Kaitlyn had 2 soccer games. They tied one & lost one. They were fun to watch(her faces were the best). She plays on defense, so she had a lot of great kicks.

Cody had a football game on the same night as one of Kaitlyn's soccer games, so we were at the fields from about 4:30-9:30 that evening.

(This one's for you dad!)

There were a ton of paper chains and balloons all around the field for decorations. I can't imagine how long it took to make them all and put them up, but they looked great!

They played a hard game but lost 14-7 to a local school rival. It was a great game!

Ryan wasn't too thrilled with all of the game time.

So, we made several trips to the concessions.

Happy Birthday Ry!

This past Saturday was Ryan's 7th Birthday, and he was very excited!

Ryan loves birthdays. It doesn't matter whose it is, he loves to be a part of the planning, the activities and the excitement surrounding the event(and even more when it is his). He started the day before his birthday reminding everyone that he wanted to hear "those 3 special words"(Happy Birthday Ryan). This reminder continued throughout his entire birthday day. We repeated this several times for Ryan upon his request.

He did have a wonderful day full of friends, family, presents & fun!

It's been a fast 7 years, and I have loved every minute of it!

I just hope the next 7 slow down...please!!

Happy Birthday My Ry!!

Birthday plans

This time of year we(Ryan & I) are always faced with the question of what do do for Ryan's Birthday. We did Chuck-e-Cheese a couple of times and a family birthday another year, but he really wants a good old fashioned at-home friend party. I was always really good about parties up until a few years ago, when I just got tired at the thought of all the planning and activities, so we always opt for something smaller. This past week I took Ryan with me to Kaitlyn's soccer practice. We brought along his bike, so he could ride on some of the trails. After a few laps he said, "This is fun. I want to do this for my Birthday!" So this year, problem's solved...Dinner & a bike ride for Ryan's birthday!!

Although...that might change. He's also mentioned Disneyland.

Football

Today was Cody's first football game of the season.
My knowledge of the game of football is very limited, so I'll spare you the play by play. Cody does play as the left guard, and apparently(according to those who know) he really isn't big enough for this position. Cody said he was playing a wide receiver in practice, but when the coach saw him blocking people twice his size he moved him to the offensive line.

It was really fun to watch and we are looking forward to the rest of the season...GO BRAVES!!

His team won 29-0!!

Hairdo

If you know Cody, then you will know that these pictures totally go against all Cody hair protocol, which is why we had to document this Sunday night activity...if only for posterity's sake.

Grandma's Visit

We were lucky to have Grandma Thornton come for a visit.

As always it was lots of fun!!

We went swimming at the lake several times.

We went shopping for some UGA attire and met a few Dawgs on the way. They have several of these Dawgs(The UGA mascot) all around Athens, and each one is painted in a different theme. We found the Firehouse Dawg, and the Traveling Dawg.

We walked the trails at the Botanical Gardens, even though it was 100 degrees outside...and almost didn't get any pictures. I had left my memory card in the computer, so I was really bummed that I wasn't going to get any pictures during this beautiful nature walk. However, at the very end of our walk Ryan found a 1 GB memory card in the parking lot, so I put it in my camera a captured a few shots...Thank you Ryan!!

We went shopping, bike riding, swimming and enjoyed every minute of her visit here with us!

We miss her already!!

We love you Grandma Thornton!!
