4th of July

Officially Casey's favorite holiday!

We did our annual trip to the fireworks store to pick up our loot, and Casey found his namesake...haha! We ended up with a little more than planned, but not nearly the truckloads that were going out ahead of us. WOW, people spend some $$money$$ for their 4th of July celebrations.

Andy, Janelle and the boys came for the festivities. We swam, ate good food, and set off fireworks! Good times were had by all - however, we were a little worried about all the shrapnel falling down around us - the screaming at the end of the video - which was actually happening the entire time, but you couldn't hear it because of the fireworks🤣🤣.

Thankful for the freedoms we enjoy, and those that serve and defend them each and every day!

A flag Andy helped Casey make over the holiday weekend. Andy's got mad skills. You can check him out at Torched Wood Works on Etsy.

Summer Visitor(s)

We have seen evidence of snakes residing on our property and had an encounter just once last summer, but this was the first time that we were in such close proximity and seeing not just one, but two very big black snakes.

I've been reassured many times that these are the "good snakes" that keep away the bad snakes. They also eat rodents and other pests. However, snakes are snakes and they aren't something I enjoy viewing up close and personal, especially while mating on my window-seal....

When it Rains it Pours

We get some pretty heavy storms during the summer. Some like to stick around a little too long and come down a little too fast and furious. This was one of them....

Casey was trying everything to try and redirect the water away from the house. Thankfully, there was no lasting water damage, but it makes us a nervous wreck until the storm subsides. I wasn't too thrilled he was out walking around in it, with the lightening that was consistently striking way too close for (my)comfort.

Meanwhile, the rest of us were watching from a distance safely inside.
