Beautiful weekend

Tonight's forecast is rain, so is tomorrow's and we are back to the 40's and 50's in temperature all week. That's what made this weekend so nice! It was high 60's-low 70's, sunny and warm. It was wonderful. We made the most of our day on Saturday and had a late lunch/early dinner over the fire with friends.

The younger boys were completing a requirement for cub-scouts by planning and cooking a portion of the meal that was cooked outdoors. Ryan helped prepare the beans, which were yummy but overcooked(mom's fault), and his friend brought banana boats(center of banana is cut out and filled with mini-marshmallows and chocolate chips) for dessert. We hadn't had them before, but they were a winner!

We also did some marshmallow roasting

and playing.

We enjoyed a beautiful day out of hibernation.
How many more months until spring??

Flashback Friday

This was only 5 years ago. Kaitlyn is now graduating & Ryan is 8. I cannot believe how fast time has gone. So many things have changed since this photo was taken, and I can only imagine what changes the next 5 years will bring...another graduation and Ryan will be a teenager. I wish I could freeze time and make things stand still...for just a moment.

Archery Lesson 101

Casey decided to buy a Bow & Arrow this year for Christmas, something economical but also functional. Ryan was excited to try it out, so Casey gave him a short lesson one afternoon that ended in a broken sight, a few broken arrow tips, and a decision that Ryan needs a scaled down version of what Casey purchased.

Snow Week

We received 6-7 inches of snow last Sunday night. That's quite a bit by Georgia standards. It hasn't gotten above freezing all week, so everything is a solid sheet of ice. When we were living in West Virginia it might have prompted a 2-hr delay, but here in Georgia the kids have missed a week of school. Everybody has utilized the time the best way they know how...

Blades of Steel

well, not really...but it sounded good.

Ryan has wanted roller-blades for a very long time(2-3 years), so Santa finally remembered and Ryan was actually surprised when he saw them - Good Job Santa!

He started out a little apprehensive, wanting to spend more time in the grass than the pavement.

Eventually he found a safe place to start & stop.

He's gotten much better and falls have been fewer,

but he has decided that he needs a pad for his rear-end!
