This was our 2nd and last trip to the beach this summer. We came here last year with Casey and played while he worked. He didn't have too many meetings, which allowed us to have some fun family beach time as well. Kailtyn and Alex came with us this year. Poor Kaitlyn came down with a cold a few days before our departure. She was a trooper and still enjoyed the trip, but for the majority of the time she had her toilet paper roll and garbage baggy close by...We stocked up on cold supplies as well, which she kept on her night stand. We thought for sure the rest of us would be sitting ducks, at-least one of us catching what she had. However, nobody else managed to get sick - Thankfully!
We had her start out wearing a mask since we had to ride in the same vehicle for 6-7 hrs. --She was thrilled--😂
Soon after we arrived we all changed and headed down to the beach. Casey and Ryan started right back where they left off last year collecting shark teeth!
I got up every morning and went for a run. There is nothing better than a beach sunrise(Ryan is the silhouette)....
Another favorite time at the beach is Sunset - so beautiful! We always made our way out to watch the sun go down and do some more shark teeth/shell hunting.
We spent our days down at the beach swimming, riding the waves, hunting for more shark teeth, and a few creative burying sessions.
Ryan and Alex trying to get a jump picture. Ryan was having some trouble bending his knees😄
Group photos are always the most fun...
The resort we were staying at offered crab hunting at night. We were given head flashlights and went out after dark to try and find the crabs running around the beach. The were sneaky and fast, so we had to play it smart to find the big ones. It was fun and a little freaky, but mostly fun. We managed to get a few pictures before they quickly scurried away.
We found some great places to eat - each offering it's own unique and delicious flair for --our much anticipated-- seafood flavors.
Our favorite was actually in Savannah - we made a quick stop in Savannah on our way home for River Street and a few other shops, and Kaitlyn found this amazing seafood place off the square. We've had a lot of seafood boils, but this was our very favorite! -- We are still talking about it!
We stopped at Wormsloe Plantation for a few pictures. The back drop is beautiful, lined by live oaks and Spanish moss.
And of course we made a quick visit to our favorite candy shop on River street!
Oh, and I almost forgot...we left on my birthday and Kaitlyn and Alex had ordered my favorite cake(lavender lemon) from the Grit in downtown Athens - It was SO GOOD!! I ate WAY too much of that big cake🤩 🎂
It was a fun-filled week, and not a day goes by that I don't wish we were back swimming, eating, and surfing our way through summer! See you in 2020!!
