It hardly seems possible that just a week ago we were playing in the snow, but so goes our weather here in Georgia.
This was the first weekend that we've had warm enough weather to wear shorts & flip-flops all in the same day. I was a little more excited about the warmer temperatures than everyone else, and I wanted to take a picnic and go somewhere to enjoy the day.
However, since the kids aren't young enough to pack into the car & take wherever I want to go anymore, and I didn't convince them enough to make them want to come...I didn't have any takers.
They spent their warm weekend climbing trees
and playing outside.
Signs of spring are slowly starting to pop up in our yard
We are hoping for a warm/dry spring!

Snow Day
We always love the threat of snow in Georgia. It doesn't happen very often, so we get excited at the prospect of getting a few inches to play in. Last Friday it happened, and we received 3-4 inches of beautiful snow.
It started in the late afternoon, so the kids were out past dark sledding in the fresh snow.
The next morning we woke up to beautiful blue skies & snow covered trees.
It was 7:30a.m. when everyone decided it was time to venture out. We don't have a lot of snow attire, so we spent the day rotating mittens, sweats, sweatshirts and shoes/boots.
We also don't have a sled. Luckily, the neighbor boy across the street has one and shares with the kids. However, since it was very early & our neighbor wasn't up and outside yet, I wouldn't let Cody take the sled out of his yard to use. So, he got creative(desperate) and resorted to using a piece of insulation as his sled. That didn't last long before it split in two.
Kaitlyn made some snow art
Cody finally got to use the sled
Cody also enjoyed karate chopping the snow off of our bushes...
Ryan spent as much time outside as his hands and feet would allow. He was out before anyone else, and he was always the last one to come in.
Living in Virginia & West Virginia for 8-10 years and experiencing heavy snow storms blizzards, and severe snow accumulations, makes us appreciate a Georgia snow even more & the fact that it is gone within 48 hours of it's arrival.
We are now looking forward to spring...

Valentine's Day
I've always told Casey that I don't want chocolates or flowers, and not to spend money on a card for Valentine's Day, but he can write me a hand-written note and that will do just fine.
Ryan took those words to heart this year & I got the best Valentine ever...

And Casey did surprise me with this...
I'm loved more than spider-man(which is big), and I got the electric wheat grinder I've been wanting.
It was a Happy Valentine's Day!

Laying low
Not too much has been going on here these last few weeks. Things have been rather slow and quiet, as we've had to deal with illness after illness.
We've had a little bit of this...
and some of this...
While Ryan's been struck with this a few times...
He thinks it's pretty cool that they are so loud & long. He came home from school today with a performance that I tried to quiet, but he told me he's been holding it in all day so he has to let it out.
We've had more sick days these past few weeks than I care to count.
I'm hoping for a weekend of wellness for us all & a break in our cold-wet weather.
